David blasts Starhawk, without much research or concern for the opposite view-
David Gibson over at beliefnet's blogs ran his mouth off at Starhawk "demanding" an apology from the Pope.
You see. David is a successful author about the Pope, meaning he's authored some books. Ya da ya da ya da.
David obviously doesn't know much about Starhawk or the Papal Apology hopes many Wiccans and Neo-Pagans share.

Penance and atonement are ongoing processes, but Starhawk does seem behind the curve here as far as the history."
Actually David. SHES VERY AWARE! We're all VERY DAMN AWARE! Let's try-- we did our own protest and official letter aware! We've been working on this for years, without much as a peep from the Holy See. They ignore us and apparently don't even find us worthy of a "we'll think about it" or a "hey.. why don't we sit down at a table and negotiate? Have some coffee?"
They are NOT open to talks with our national level leaders.
Secondly... Yes.. we are WELL AWARE of the African witchcraft problem. Go read Wren's Nest News on a weekly basis and you'll find a HUGE archive of horrific stories concerning it. Our community has been hoping for education and change for years, way before the Christian community found it worthy of discussion.
Not to mention, stupid Palin invites African Christian ministers who PROMOTE violence against women to come to her church and BLESS HER against witchcraft. Sorry, but we find this absolutely disgusting.
Thirdly-- and this one pisses me off to no end-- The Secretary of the VA for many years was a knight of the Holy See and ambassador to the Vatican. During his term of office as secretary, he SAT on many Wiccan and Pagan applications for the pentacle to be added to veteran's headstones. The VA was taken to court and found to be discriminatory. You can't tell me that Mr. Nicholson didn't take his religion a little too far. HE discriminated against witches in the modern day. It's not just about some Papal Bull from four hundred years ago.
It's about how we've been treated at the Parliament of World Religions. It's about how we've been treated at Interfaith functions. It's how we are treated in schools and in the military right now by chaplains and other figures of authority, even though we are one of the fastest growing religions in America.
